John "Jack" Daulton Weidenhamer
Weidenhamer, John "Jack" D.
5 Sep 1929 - 20 Jan 2013
Jack passed peacefully in his sleep January 20th. Jack was born in Alliance,
NE in 1929, one of six brothers. After high school he joined the Navy and
served in the Korean War as an Electrician’s Mate, which eventually led to a
35 year career at Western Electric/AT&T in Omaha. Jack and Virginia, his
wife of 50 years who preceded him in death in 2005, had 3 sons and 1
daughter. He was a Scoutmaster for 10 years, mentoring numerous boys, and
seeing all 3 of his sons attain Eagle Scout.
Jack loved travel and the outdoors. He took his young family to 49 states in
a station wagon filled with camping equipment, and taught his kids a deep
appreciation for nature. He traveled to Europe with his wife, hiked the
Grand Canyon at age 50, snow skied into his 70s, and rode a 3-wheel
recumbent bike up until a month before his death. He is survived by all four
of his children: Bruce (wife Deb), Judy Doyle (Jim), Wayne (Vickie) and
Lance, and his five grandchildren, Evan, Quinn, Kellen, Joy and Erin.
Services: Will be scheduled later, with an announcement posted on a future
Sunday.
Memorials: Please honor the Visiting Nurses Assoc. of Omaha with any gifts.
