Virginia Beach, 70, Dave…a loving husband, father and grandfather,
passed away surrounded by his family, March 9, 2014 after a long
courageous fight with amyloidosis, a rare, incurable disease. He was the
son of G. Paul and Ellen Elizabeth Van Zant. He proudly served his
country in the United States Air Force, is a graduate of The University
of Nebraska-Omaha and had a long successful career as an Engineering
Manager in the private sector.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judy L. Van Zant; three
daughters, Alisa Van Zant Shannon, Cindee Annice Hansen and her husband
Bruce, and Kimberly Sue Bannon and her husband David; five
grandchildren, Haley, Carlie, Cameron, Libby and Tyler and his great
grandson Brody. Dave is also survived by his mother Janice G. Van Zant;
brother, James Van Zant and his wife Janice; three sisters, Susan
Colbert and her husband Donald, Patricia "Pat" Koontz and her husband
Bill, and Cheri Van Zant; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services: March 15 at 2 P.M. at Altmeyer Funeral Home- 1801 Baltic Ave,
Virginia Beach, with a reception to follow.
Memorials: To the Boston University School of Medicine, Amyloid Research
Fund, 72 East Concord Street, K-503, Boston, MA 02118, in lieu of
flowers.
