He taught hunter safety courses for 25 years. For 30 years he spent part of each summer harvesting wheat in western Nebraska with his cousins. He enjoyed music, dance, and story telling. He and Mary Lou were charter members of their home church in Omaha, Lutheran Church of the Master. They have attended the Drive in Christian Church in Daytona Beach Shores.

He is preceded in death by his parents (John and Nora Streng) and dear sister Ruth Templeton.

Herb is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou, children Kris (husband Ron), Julie (husband Rick), Mike (wife Nikki), grandchildren John (wife Jane), Mary Beth (husband Tom), great grand daughter Jadyn, brother Erv and sister Irene as well as all of their families and many wonderful friends.
