James J. Schwetz
Schwetz, James J. 'Jim'

Jim was a WWII veteran of the Armed Services, most notably participating
in the Normandy invasion on D-Day. Jim was awarded the Purple Heart for
combat wounds inflicted while fighting in the Hurtgen forest in Germany.
Jim grew up in Berwyn, IL.
He graduated from the University of Illinois with a mechanical
engineering degree in 1949. He was married to his high school
sweetheart, Kathryn Smith, from August 28, 1948 until her passing on
July 15, 1992. Jim and Kathryn moved to Omaha in 1957.
Preceded in death by his wives, Kathryn Smith Schwetz, Gloria Keim
Schwetz and Melba Wigg Schwetz; and grandson, Michael Stuart.
Survived by sister, Marion Mooney Johnson; daughters, Janet Schwetz,
Katie Westermann (Richard), Nancy Thompson (Brian), and Barb Stuart
(James III ); 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Jim has been a resident of Maple Ridge RLC for the past 8 years where he
enjoyed many great friendships and companionship during his final year.

Services: Private services will be held.

Salvation Army.
Jim retired in 1983 with over thirty years of service.
