Walter J. Ross
Ross, Walter J.
18 Feb 1928 – 13 Dec 2013
Walter J. Ross died peacefully on December 13, 2013 with his family at
his side. Retired from Western Electric after thirty-four years, Walter
was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to George and Margarite (McGary)
Ross. He was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base when he met Laura
Madsen, who would be Walter’s wife for more than half a century—they
recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary!
Walter was a gentle, devoted family man who loved to have fun. He
enjoyed photography, woodworking and, especially, classical music.
Imbued with a great sense of humor, Walter spent his later years
joyfully passing on jokes via e-mail and searching YouTube for his
favorite music. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. He truly
was a “Wonderful Old Gentleman.”
Walter is survived by his wife, Laura Ross; his children: Sandy Watson
(Patrick), Randy Ross (Debbie), and Ron Ross; and five grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the health care providers of Bergan Mercy
Hospital for their compassionate care.
Services: A celebration of Walter’s life will be held Saturday, December
21st at 1:00 P.M. at the West Center Chapel.
Interment: Private interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park
Cemetery.
Walter retired 31 Dec 1986.
