James 'Jim' L. Richardson

James L. Richardson of Millard, Nebraska passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 after a long 8 year battle.

He was born to James C. and Harriet C. Richardson in Lyons, Nebraska on August 28, 1944. Growing up in the Pender area he attended Pender high school where he graduated in 1962. He then served in the Army Security Agency for 3 years.

After returning home he married his high school sweetheart Carol Diederichs in December of 1965. They then moved to Millard, Nebraska and had 3 children; Cliff (Wendy) Richardson, Dan (Lisa) Richardson, Joan (Mike) Knott, who gave them 9 grandchildren, Megan, Zachary, Natalie, Jacob, Brittany, Olivia, Valerie, Allison and Delaney.

He worked a 35 year career as a machinist for Western Electric / Lucent Technologies, retiring to enjoy traveling, golf, cards, his faithful dog Lilly, but most of all his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Harold Watson, and nephew David Richardson.

Surviving him are his wife, their children and grandchildren as well as his brother Dean (Jeanette) Richardson and sister Carol Ballard, many other family members and friends.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present after 5:00 p.m. at Braman Mortuary Southwest Chapel.

Services: Wednesday, July 17, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Lutheran Church 17007 Q St.

Memorials: Directed to his family for charities of their choosing.


Jim was a machinist in the 50 Bld before retiring on 28 Aug 2000.
