Michael Lee Parizek
Parizek, Michael L.
6 Feb 1947 – 23 Sep 2016
On September 23, 2016 we lost an amazing husband, father, grandpa,
brother, and friend. Michael Lee Parizek was born on February 6, 1947 in
Omaha to George “Stumps” and Lucille Parizek. He attended St. Bridget’s
school and graduated from South High in 1965. He attended Omaha
University “UNO” and graduated from BYU with a Master’s Degree in
Engineering. His career began at Western Electric and he retired from
Lucent in 1999. He was also a proud card-carrying member of Menard’s
Contractors Club. He was a devoted member of Mary Our Queen Parish,
living his faith in action and words. Throughout the years he served the
parish in every way imaginable and never hesitated to step up to a
challenge.
The center of Michael’s life was always his family. He is survived by
his wife and best friend, Mary (Mahlberg) Parizek; their children: Brian
Parizek (Lisa), Kristen Schwers (Roger) Andrew Parizek (Paula), Amy
Schwartzenberger (Isaac), and Jill Chandler (Noel). He was a loving and
wonderful Grandpa to: Sidney, Emma, and Lucy Parizek, Steven, Alex, and
Lauren Schwers, Lily and Oscar Parizek, and Courtney Chandler. He had
hoped to meet his tenth grandchild, whose arrival is expected in
October. Being a loving big brother to his siblings was also important
to Mike, their “Pater Familias,” a title they all took to heart: Pat
Parizek, Sr. (Nora), Georgeann Parizek, RSCJ, and Joe Parizek. He was a
blessing and a wonderful brother-in-law to: Jane Ortmeier (Tom), Carol
Mahlberg, and Kevin Mahlberg (Brenda). He was also called Uncle Mike by
numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom felt like his favorite.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, “Stumps” and Lucille Parizek;
his brother, Peter; and his parents-in-law, Bud and Elsie Mahlberg.
Anyone who was a friend of Mike knew they had a friend for life. The
world was a better place because Mike Parizek was in it.
