Roslyn (Swanson) [Backemeyer] McDaniel
McDaniel, Roslyn Swanson Backemeyer
20 May 2010 - 18 Feb 1917
Age 93, of Lincoln, died Thursday, May 20, 2010. Born Febuary18, 1917, in
Alvo, Nebraska the youngest of three daughters born to Benjamin and Ellen
(Johnson) Swanson. On December 4, 1937 she married Carl Backemeyer and lived
on a farm near Murdock, Nebraska until his death in 1967. Roslyn moved to
Lincoln and continued her 25 year career at Western Electric in Millard,
Nebraska. On September 9, 1977 Roslyn married Fred McDaniel. The two resided
together in their Lincoln home until 2007 when they moved to Brentwood
Estates. In February 2010 they moved to Windcrest Assisted Living where they
remained until present. Their life together ended in May 2010 after Roslyn
suffered a stroke and remained in extended care at The Monarch until her
death.
Roslyn is survived by her husband, Fred McDaniel, her daughter Sandra
Schindler and husband Robert, her son, Ken Backemeyer and wife, Patricia,
all of Lincoln. She was also blessed with four grandchildren and their
spouses: Janelle (Arthur) Rosenfeld, Pompano Beach, FL; Michelle (Chris)
Ziboh, Lincoln; Chris (Courtney) Backemeyer, Washington, D.C.; Tom
Backemeyer, Mill Creek, WA; two great-grandsons: Christopher Ziboh and
Tasman Rosenfeld.
Other family members include stepsons and spouses: Fred (Elizabeth)
McDaniel, San Mateo, CA; Cedric (Sherrie) McDaniel, Waunita, NE;
step-grandchildren and spouses: Carrie (Matt) Terryberry, Eric (Marilyn)
McDaniel; Jake McDaniel; Kait McDaniel and five step great-grandchildren:
Markenna, Carson and Parker Terryberry, Annika and Lleyton McDaniel. Roslyn
is preceded in death by her first husband, Carl, sisters, Pearl and Eleta,
and parents.
Visitation: No Visitation
Services: Memorial Service: 3:00 P. M. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, Roper and Sons
Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
Interment: Cremation
Memorials: The family has requested memorials in lieu of flowers be given to
support ‘The Monarch End of Life Care’ c/o Eastmont Towers Foundation, 6315
‘O’ Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68510.
