Raymond Lonowski

Lonowski, Raymond
26 Oct 1924 – 20 Feb 2019

Ray was born on October 26, 1924 and raised on a farm near Arcadia, Nebraska. In 1943, at age 19, he enlisted in the Army and was sent to England, where his Quartermaster company landed at Omaha Beach just 24 hours after the initial invasion.

Because of his courage and leadership, he was awarded a battlefield commission and promoted from Private to Second Lieutenant. He retired after 20 years of reserve duty with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war, Ray attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and remained a lifelong Husker, holding season football tickets for 65 years.

Professionally, Ray was an agent for Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company at Western Electric, where he made countless friends with Western Electric employees and many more as an active charter member of Mary Our Queen Parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Emily Lonowski.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maxine (Kenny) Lonowski; daughters: Diane Dreis (Bob), Linda Haddick (Scott), and Laura Farris (Randy); son, Jeff Lonowski; grandchildren: Alyssa and Lindsay Dreis, Ryan and Nikki Farris, and Kyle and Molly Haddick; sister, Dolores Moran of Seattle Washington; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, February 22nd, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., at Mary Our Queen Church, 3405 S. 118th St., with Rosary to follow at 7 P.M.

Services: Saturday, February 23rd at 10 A.M. at Mary Our Queen Church.

Interment: Private interment on February 25th with immediate family; military rites by Ralston American Legion Post 373.
