Ronald E. Hargin

Hargin, Ronald E.
14 Aug 1930 - 16 Apr 2015

Ronald E. Hargin went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 16, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was 84.

Ron was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on August 14, 1930 to Ronald and Arvilla Hargin. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He returned home and graduated from NW Missouri State College.

Ron met his wife Carol E. Groom while in college. They had four children, Doug, Deb, Bill and Patti. Ron and Carol celebrated their 60th Anniversary on April 8th.

Ron began his career as a high school teacher but spent the bulk of his career as a production manager for Western Electric, Inc., the manufacturing division of AT&T. He retired from Pacific NW Bell in 1985.

Ron was well-liked and known for his quick wit. He was an outstanding high school athlete. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, and was an avid fan of his kids’ and grandkids’ teams and that of his alma mater (Go Bearcats!). He coached and managed numerous Hazel Dell Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He had a lifelong passion for vintage cars.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elaine King Rosalina. Ron is survived by his wife Carol, sons Doug (Cheryl) Hargin, Bill (Jessica) Hargin, daughters Deborah Hargin and Patricia (Bud) Egbert, grandchildren Cassandra, Parker, Carissa, Loren, Joel and Jaclyn. We would be remiss not to mention Sam and Janet Lapore and their children Chris and Brigida, who hold a special place in our family.

Services: 1 P.M. May 2nd at Crossroads Community Church, 7708 NE 78th Ave. Vancouver, WA.

Memorials: The family asks that contributions be made to County Wide Chaplaincy, 21609 NE 72nd Ave., Battle Ground, WA 98604, in lieu of flowers.

Ron was a supervisor at the plant.
