John L. Fuller, age 87, lifetime resident of Council Bluffs, passed away May
24, 2011, at Risen Son Nursing Home.
He was born February 10, 1924, in Council Bluffs, to the late Orrie J. and
Maude (Lacy) Fuller. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1942
and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. John was a
machinist for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad and then for Western
Electric retiring in 1984. He was a member of Dodge Memorial Congregational
Church for over 50 years; American Legion and VFW.
John was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Billie (Ivy) in 1982, 2nd wife,
Erma (Birsdsong) in 1994; 2 brothers, George and Orton.
He is survived by two sons, Dorsie E. Ivy, Jr. and wife, Pat, Stanley O. Ivy
and wife, Judy; 3 grandchildren, Darren Ivy and wife, Cassie, Holly DeVore
and husband, Scott, Amy Holmes and husband, Tim; 4 great grandchildren;
nieces and nephews.
Funeral service, Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring
Bayliss Park Chapel.
Visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. Interment
Glenwood, Iowa Cemetery with military rites tendered by VFW Post #737.
Memorials are suggested to Risen Son Christian Village or Dodge Memorial
Congregational Church.
