Marie was an extraordinary single working Mom, avid trade unionist, and a trailblazer for Women's rights and Worker's rights during her lifetime. She was a pillar of strength to many and known to never stand down when it came to something she was passionate about. Marie attended South High and worked for Western Electric (Lucent Technologies).

She is loved, missed and survived by her children Kim Cook, Gary Cook, Debbie Turner; grandchildren, Kyrany Sagen-Cook, Jenny Turner-Schaffer, Britnie Turner, Courtney Turner, Stetson Turner, Austin Turner and Kaley Turner; great grandchildren, Indy Schaffer and Aurora Schaffer.

Marie retired in 1990 with 32 years of service.
