Harold R. Carritt, 86, Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Fremont, Nebraska passed
away Monday, February 28, 2011 at the home of his daughter in Omaha.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Fremont Berean
Bible Church, 406 East 3rd, Fremont, NE. with Pastor Stephen Watson
officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Little Sioux Cemetery at
Little Sioux, Iowa with military honors conducted by the US Navy and the
VFW. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Rush
Family Care Service at Onawa, Iowa with a second visitation 4:00 to 6:00
p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Fremont Berean Bible Church, 406 East 3rd,
Fremont. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service at
Onawa.
Harold was born August 19, 1924 at Soldier, Iowa, the son of Thomas A. and
Martha (Nelson) Carritt. Harold lived in many areas: Soldier, Little Sioux
and Blencoe, Iowa and Omaha, Fremont, Mead and Blair Nebraska. He graduated
from Blencoe High School in the class of 1943, before joining the United
States Navy in June, 1943 where he served as Electrician's Mate 3rd Class
until his honorable discharge in January, 1946.
Harold and Mary Perkins were united in marriage August 14, 1943 at Blair,
NE. After Harold's discharge, the couple made their home in various
locations where Harold was employed: farming, railroad and Douglas Aircraft
in California. He last was a product tester at Western Electric in Omaha for
22 years until his retirement. Mary passed away December 22, 1996.
Harold was a member of Little Sioux United Methodist Church, Fremont Berean
Bible Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his children, Fred (Marla) Carritt of Blair, NE, Bernie
(Rhonda) Carritt of Wahoo, NE, Rox Ann (A.R.) Rodriquez of Corpus Christi,
TX, Dee Ann Konecky of Lincoln, NE, Steve (Darlene) Carritt of Milford, NE,
Sue Ann (Tom) Cich of Omaha and Lori Ann (Dan) Roy of Las Vegas, NV; 25
grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents and
siblings, Wilma Choate, Joe, Tom, Kenneth, Blanche Howard, Ruth Benish and
Mariam Hadden and a great granddaughter, Aleana Michel Lindley.
