Born in Forest Park, Illinois, Wally went to work for Western Electric
at the Hawthorne Works at the ripe age of fourteen. He served his
country in WWII from 1946-1948 and married his bride “Elly” two years
after being honorably discharged. Wally and Ellen lived in the Chicago
area until 1957 when Western Electric brought him to Omaha. He would
always say, “Omaha is a great place to raise a family” and that is
exactly what he did.
Wally was preceded in death by Ellen in 2009 and is survived by his
daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Tom Gilmore; sons and
daughters-in-law, Wayne and Julie Baumgart, Jerry and Barbara Baumgart;
8 grandchildren: Kelly, Jamie, Rachel, Jessica, Andy, Matthew, Justin
and John; and 4 great-grandchildren: Ashlynn, Meredith, Emilie and
Kirsten.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday, February 14th from 6
P.M. to 8 P.M. at the West Center Chapel.
Interment: Graveside Service Saturday, February 15th at 10:30 A.M. at
Evergreen Memorial Park with military rites by American Legion Post #1.
Services: Saturday, 1 P.M. Calvary Lutheran Church, 2941 N. 80 St.
Memorials: Suggested to Disabled American Veterans or Calvary Lutheran
Church.
