David Ray Olsen

David Ray Olsen was born on November 18, 1932 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Clifford and Edna (Johnson) Olsen. He grew up in Minneapolis until his teen years when the family moved to Omaha and it was here that he graduated from Tech High School in 1951; his focus was on Radio Repair. David attended Creighton University for a short time before joining the United States Navy. He served his country from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War where he spent his time aboard a ship off the coast of Alaska.

David married Norma Jean Cox in September of 1954 in Long Beach, California and to this union a daughter, Jeanne was born. David has lived in Omaha, Ashland, Murdoch and Yutan. David married Lujean Nichelson on July 5, 1966 in Wilbur, Nebraska.

David drove a delivery truck for a short time before going to work at Western Electric now AT&T and continued to work there until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed cars, camping, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and NASCAR. David was talented and remodeled the old school house into their current home. He was a quiet man but would speak his mind when appropriate. He enjoyed his family but was most happy at home.

David passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Edna. David is survived by wife Lujean; daughter Jeanne Scott of Snohomish, WA; stepsons Donald Nichelson of Milwaukee, WI and Tim Nichelson of Ashland, NE; sisters Delores Perkins of Des Moines, IA and Sandy Phillips of Omaha; brother Tom Olsen of Omaha, NE.


Visitation: No visitation.

Services: 10:30 A.M. at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Yutan.

Inurnment: Hollst Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials: To The Yutan VFW.
